Story from #sashcancerhero: Sarah Scully: Scout

Scout is our three year old French bulldog who likes chasing the ball, food, and cuddles. She does not like the vacuum cleaner, and she does not like cancer.

Scout was diagnosed with biliary Cystadenocarcinoma in September this year. Her symptoms were weight loss, vomiting and lethargy. We knew something was wrong and took her to SASH where they found a tumour. Scout had the best care from the surgical and medical team. While we hoped that the tumour was benign, we sadly got the cancer diagnosis. Scout has had amazing care from Dr Spela and the oncology team. She has now had two months of oral chemo and she is responding really well. We love her so much and every day with her is a blessing.

We don’t know what the future holds but we know that Scout has the absolute best team on her side, and we cannot think SASH enough for their support with Scout.

If you notice any changes with your pet and are worried, please get them checked. Scout is the perfect example that cancer can happen to any dog at any age.
