Hospital Care is a department within SASH which provides care for patients that are medically stable, yet still need monitoring from veterinarians and a team of nurses. The Hospital Care veterinarians and nurses work closely with other departments such as Emergency, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine to ensure pets receives the most appropriate care, 24/7.
With the complex nature of many cases seen at SASH, it cannot be guaranteed that a stable patient will remain stable indefinitely. The Hospital Care team have a broad level of knowledge and are experts in recognising problems, if and when they occur. They are then responsible for working cases, performing investigations, and if required, co-ordinating the transfer of patients to the most suitable specialist service.
As an owner, it is unlikely you will ever see one of the Hospital Care team face to face, as they operate behind the scenes and unlike many other services, do not provide consultations. However, they will be in contact with you over the phone with updates about your beloved pet.
