Specialist in Oncology & Resident in Radiation Oncology
Dr Sarah Wetzel was originally from the USA and completed her veterinary studies at the University of Illinois. After graduation, she spent 2 years in general practice treating dogs, cats, and exotic patients before spending a year as an Emergency Veterinarian. She completed a rotating internship with the Veterinary Emergency Services and Specialty Centre in Wisconsin, before undertaking an oncology internship at Oregon State University. Dr Sarah then completed a combined medical oncology residency and Master’s program at Washington State University. Dr Sarah then moved to New Zealand for a Senior Lecturer position at the Massey University Veterinary Hospital. Soon after arriving at SASH, Sarah became a Board certified oncologist through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Recently, Dr Sarah decided to expand her training to include Radiation Oncology, and is now completing a second residency at SASH North Ryde.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, hiking and dog behaviour training. She also enjoys expressing herself artistically through figure skating and ballroom dancing.
