Dr Emily Li

BSc DVM MANZCVS(ECC)

Registrar in Critical Care

(What does this mean?)

Emily completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne before working in a busy general practice. She then undertook a rotating internship with the University of Sydney, where she found her love for emergency medicine. Afterwards, she returned to her home city, where she worked as an emergency veterinarian and clinical tutor with the University of Melbourne. She then completed a three-year emergency and critical care residency program with the University of Sydney and SASH North Ryde. Emily attained membership of the emergency and critical care chapter of the ANZCVS during her residency.

Emily enjoys the gratification of stabilising critical patients in a busy emergency room, particularly respiratory failure, anaphylaxis, shock, and endocrine emergencies. In the critical care unit, she takes a detail-oriented approach, taking pride in every aspect of patient care. She has a special interest in electrolyte derangements, mechanical ventilation, and transfusion medicine. Nothing gives her more joy than to see her patients recover and return to their loved ones.

Her family has a greyhound, Toffee, who lives in Melbourne – he is fond on the couch (like all greyhounds) but also loves the car and road trips. In Sydney, she shares the apartment with a feline housemate – Moo Moo Cow.
