May 2020 - Laparoscopy now available at Tuggerah

We have offered laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures (key-hole surgery) for some time at SASH Sydney and can now offer the same service to our referring vets on the Central Coast. Laparoscopy can decrease post-operative pain and recovery times and should be considered for the following routine procedures:
  • Ovariectomy or ovariohysterectomy
  • Prophylactic gastropexy, often combined with ovariohysterectomy
  • Cryptorchidectomy
  •        Hepatic, renal, splenic and pancreatic biopsies, and some tumourbiopsies
  • Laparoscopic assisted cystotomy, enterotomy, feeding tube placement
Dependent on case selection, the following laparoscopic procedures may also be possible:
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Adrenalectomy
Thoracoscopy offers great advantages over thoracotomy and may be feasible for the following procedures:
  • Lung and pleural biopsies
  • Partial and complete lung lobe resection
  • Pericardialwindow and subtotal strip
