BVSc(Dist), MANZCVS(Surgery), DACVS-SA, Dipl ECVS

Specialist in Surgery & Fellow in Surgical Oncology

(What does this mean?)

Dr Tristram Bennett graduated as a veterinarian from Massey University in New Zealand with distinction and recognition as a Massey Scholar (a scholarship awarded to the top 5% of students in the university during the degree).

Following graduation, he worked in a large companion animal practice in Adelaide and concurrently worked closely with wildlife rehabilitation organisations. Tristram then undertook a surgical internship at the Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre (BVSC) during which he attained Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery.

Upon completion of his internship he was accepted into a surgical residency training programme at BVSC and, whilst enjoying all aspect of specialist surgery, developed keen interests in advanced soft tissue surgery and in particular surgical oncology. Following completion of his residency he passed board examinations as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons making him a specialist in small animal surgery.

Tristram moved from Queensland to join the team at SASH and loved the collaborative and innovative culture of the hospital. He continued to follow his passion for surgical oncology and moved to Colorado, after being accepted as one of only two surgeons globally each year, to undertake advanced surgical oncology fellowship training at Colorado State University. Following completion of his Surgical Oncology Fellowship he returned to SASH as the only fellowship trained surgical oncologist in New South Wales.
