Zulu’s Second Chance: From Mystery to Miracle.

Our Labrador, Zulu, was fading fast. What started as a simple ultrasound and X-ray to survey a mass in his stomach spiraled into seizures and collapse. Our local vet, Pet Wellness, spotted the life-threatening crisis. They acted immediately, sending us to SASH Gold Coast.

At SASH, Specialists used advanced diagnostics (CT scans, ICU monitoring) to unravel the complex mystery. A massive abdominal tumor and a hidden pancreatic insulinoma causing deadly hypoglycemia. A skilled surgeon performed the delicate operation to remove the tumor and kidney as well as the insulinoma in part of his pancreas. But the battle wasn’t over. Zulu faced post-op pneumonia, fever and skin infections, fought by an incredible ICU team around the clock.

This story isn’t just about a sick dog. It’s about the modern specialist and emergency care network that saves lives. It’s about the local vet’s crucial referral, the specialist’s precise diagnosis, and the ICU’s relentless fight. Without each link, Zulu wouldn’t be home today, wagging his tail and stealing snacks.

We share Zulu’s story to give answers and hope to other families facing the terror of a critically ill pet. It shows that with expert, coordinated care, even the most complex conditions can have a happy ending. Thank you for saving our Zulu
