Our first experience with SASH Adelaide was just under 2 years ago when our little Malshi, Lulu was at end stage congestive heart failure. We arrived at about midnight and were greeted by very compassionate staff and saw the nurse and vet almost immediately.
Sadly the news wasn’t good and we had to make the heart wrenching decision to have Lulu euthanised. The staff were amazing and made a very difficult and distressful time a little easier. We were treated with respect, calm and dignity throughout the duration of our time there that night.
We cried for a few weeks and soon decided to let another little furbaby into our life, not to replace Lulu but to help us to heal and fill our hearts once again with the love that is shared with a little dog. Another Malshi, Poppy Angel – because we believe that Lulu is now an angel and sent Poppy to us!
A few months ago after an afternoon walk with Poppy, she became very restless, agitated and was vomiting. She became very weak and her eyes were glazed over and her gums were white. It was terrifying and we thought she was going to die! I can’t explain how scared my husband and I were! We thought maybe a snake bite at the park or maybe a bee sting. We rushed straight to SASH emergency and were once again promptly assessed by the triage nurse and then the vet.
Poppy had seemingly been stung by a bee and they responded with antihistamine and oxygen. She was kept in for a few hours for observation and then we were able to bring her home where we kept a very close eye on her.
The staff at SASH Adelaide are so wonderful and very professional. We are in awe of the role they play in such a busy, emotive environment. We have shared our experiences with all of our friends who have pets in their family and recommend them to go straight to SASH if they want the best for their pet.
Thankyou all so very much.
