Harper is a very active 5 year old Miniature Daschund who we noticed on Tuesday 14th October was having trouble using her back legs. We took her straight to Mildura Veterinary Hospital that night and saw Dr Harry who gave her some pain relief and referred her to SASH Adelaide.

We drove her to Adelaide first thing the next morning and she was admitted to SASH and diagnosed with (not surprisingly) IVDD.

Dr Laura McLeay was amazing and surgery was performed that afternoon. Harper remained in SASH’s amazing care until Saturday morning when we drove over to collect her. She spent the first 4 weeks totally confined to her crate with lots of very short walks for toileting and to help strengthen her legs/back.

She is now allowed out under supervision and is recovering amazingly! Her back legs are still a little weak and we are making sure she can’t jump up or down from the couch, bed etc. but we are forever grateful to Dr Laura and all at SASH for their amazing care of Harper. She is a part of our family and we would be lost without her.
