Late November I found a lump inside Flora’s mouth. After a few tests at our local vet in Wagga Wagga, we got the worst news – Flora was diagnosed with an aggressive Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. We were advised that she would possibly have to have part of her lower jaw removed, which left us with a lot of questions.

Wanting to give Flora the best chance of survival possible, we asked to be referred to SASH. SASH Alexandria fit us in straight away for a consult and CT scan. We were met with Dr Phillip who confirmed Flora would need a partial amputation of her jaw. Dr Phillip was very informative and confident in the procedure which gave us much relief. He confirmed Flora would have a good quality of life even without part of her lower jaw. Flora went in for surgery the next day! We were so impressed with the service and care we received from the SASH team.

Flora is now 1 week post-op and we are seeing improvements everyday. Flora has adapted to learning how to eat and drink with her new changes. Flora is showing more of her cheeky self and even trying to pick up soft toys to play (which the cone of shame has been preventing luckily hahaha). Flora looks incredible, most people who don’t know she had the procedure cannot tell she is missing part of her lower jaw. We travelled from Wagga Wagga to ensure Flora had the best care, and SASH was the perfect choice. We look forward to more time with our special Flora girl.
