On Boxing Day morning, our ferret Egg became suddenly and seriously unwell and began vomiting. We were incredibly worried. When we contacted our usual exotic vet, they unfortunately didn’t have any vets available, so we called SASH —and from that very first phone call, we knew Egg was in the right hands. They immediately told us to come straight down.

From the moment we arrived, Egg received outstanding care. The team acted quickly and professionally, and it was soon discovered that he had a foreign body lodged in his intestine. He required emergency surgery, which was handled with such skill and care that it truly saved his life.

Egg stayed at the hospital for five nights, and throughout that entire time we were kept constantly updated. The staff were amazing—kind, reassuring, and always happy to explain what was happening and answer our questions. It made an incredibly stressful time so much easier knowing how closely he was being monitored and how much he was cared for.

We feel unbelievably lucky that the team at SASH Northern Beaches were able to save Egg’s life. He is now home, thriving, and well on the road to recovery. We were even told that the staff enjoyed having Egg stay with them, as it’s not often they get to care for a ferret—which just shows how genuinely passionate they are about all animals, no matter how rare.

We cannot thank or recommend SASH highly enough. They truly went above and beyond for our little Egg, and we will be forever grateful.
