Approximately five months ago my goody greyhound Danny was playing with a dog friend on a play date and started limping.
Various treatments didn’t help and an x-ray didn’t show anything. A CT scan unfortunately showed osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his right front leg. The SASH Western Sydney team at Prospect performed an amputation and he is now seeing the Oncology team regularly for chemotherapy.
They also helped to organise a vaccine that is made using his tumour cells to give him the best chance of living the average lifespan post diagnosis of three years. After a rocky month post amputation, he is now back on track and loving life even if it is at a slower pace on three legs. The team at SASH Prospect are always lovely to him and kind to me as well.
