Our beautiful 5 year old dachshund went from running around to suddenly limping and I immediately took him to SASH Adelaide after hearing how great they have been with others that have had IVDD.
We went in late one night where we left our boy and got the dreaded call the next morning that he had almost stage 5 IVDD and was paralysed. He went straight in for surgery and the support and care received from SASH was unmatched. The team were so caring, letting us come everyday to visit and giving us updates. We are still going to SASH to continue with their amazing physio therapist Johanna Higgs – and with not a great prognosis, he is showing signs of recovery!
Not only do I want to share my amazing experience with the team at SASH Adelaide but I want to share awareness on IVDD with other dachshund owners because a lot of the time people get them because they are ‘cute’ with little to no knowledge of this horrible disease.
We had pet insurance for the chance he became the 1 in 4 statistic and we want others to realise how common it can be and how quickly it can come on. Thank you again to the amazing team at SASH Adelaide for their ongoing care and support. ❤️
