Humphrey has visited SASH Alexandria on numerous occasions as he has a liking towards eating long grass and not chewing it, resulting in it sitting in his stomach & scratching the lining & basically fermenting, causing him to be sick. It also forms a blockage & thus needs to be removed.
The SASH vets have been great with Humphrey & he is lucky they have been able to remove the grass with a scope. The problem is that it has happened too many times now resulting in him having ulcers & inflammation in his gut & now having to be on anallergenic food to settle it. This seems to have worked over the past 4 months & with his prednisone, Humphrey is returning to some sort of normality.
Also the fact that he has also inhaled or eaten plastic bags with treats in prompting the vet to make him vomit them up exacerbated his inflammation.
Humphrey certainly is lucky to have such caring vets who have treated him & planned his recovery.
We too as owners are also pleased that he is looked after so well. All we hope for is that Humphrey can stay out of trouble until his insurance rebate comes back.
All of these incidents has necessitated me being unable to utilise our parks due to his grass intake & we now walk a lot more where he can stay out of mischief.
