Holly & Ivy

2025 has been the most heartbreaking year of all time in our family.

We lost BOTH our girls Holly and Ivy within 5 weeks of each other at SASH Prospect!

The love we have for Holly & Ivy is endless & our bond is like no other; they are our Children.

Holly is a Maltese cross and Ivy is a Cavoodle. Holly passed away on the eve of her 13th Birthday in July 2025 and Ivy passed away 5 weeks later one week before her 10th Birthday in August 2025.

Our long journey began in May 2023 when Holly was diagnosed with a High grade Mast Cell Tumor on the front right paw pad.

Our Vet at Camden referred us to SASH Western Sydney (Prospect) for a consultation & that’s when everything changed.

From the moment you ring to book your appointment you feel a real sense of calm, compassion and deep understanding, the ladies on the reception desk are lovely. For us it was the most difficult uncertain phone call that we have made.

We met with Dr Johanna Todd, our Oncologist and her brilliant team. Holly underwent 2 years and 2 months of Chemotherapy at SASH and at home. Holly was on a cocktail of different medications, had CT scans, Ultrasounds, X-rays and Biopsys! You name it she had it. We were at SASH every 2 weeks for over 2 years.

During an incredibly difficult time there was a silver lining, Holly was allowed to have her sister Ivy sit right next to her during all of her treatments and appointments. This made it so much easier for Holly to be poked & prodded and Ivy to understand what was happening.

Holly and Ivy were a package deal, they did everything together and loved each other so very much. So much so that Ivy was so terribly heartbroken that her best friend and big sister had died she just couldn’t be without Holly. Ivy passed away after an incredibly fast moving and aggressive brain bleed.

Both our girls took their last breaths at SASH Prospect.

The love and support that we experienced at the worst possible time in our lives is something that we will hold onto with a great deal of value.

There aren’t enough words invented yet to describe how thankful we are to SASH & Dr Johanna, Dr Vanessa, Hayley & Sarah and the Emergency team for taking such wonderful care of our Holly & Ivy.

Thank you so very much.
