Nemo had not been eating properly for three weeks, a normal clinic vet thought it was anxiety until he stopped being able to use his back legs and couldn’t walk. They referred us straight to SASH North Ryde.

On arrival, the emergency team assessed Nemo for a suspected spinal injury. He stayed over night to get fluids and to be monitored.

The following morning Dr Marcia called us to let us know that it actually was a suspected neuro issue. She was incredibly thorough and supportive. She recommended that we get a lot of scans and testing done for suspected Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) which was affecting him neurologically. Unfortunately testing was not an option for us. She did not give up on him, even though we thought this would be the end.

We came to see him three hours later after she had started the medication for FIP and he had already seen some improvements. She was incredible and gave us lots of confidence that even though we weren’t sure if this is what was wrong with him. She said that if it was FIP we would see improvements in three days.

Three days later he was walking again and eating more than he had in over a month. Nemo will be on this medication for 12 weeks and Dr Marcia helped us to order it directly through Bova.

Six weeks into treatment and Nemo is back to his old self. He is eating, running, playing and jumping.

The SASH team saved our boy from what very easily was a life threatening disease and we couldn’t be more grateful.
