Specialist in Emergency & Critical Care
Dr Nicole Kalnins grew up in the Adelaide Hills and moved to Queensland to study Veterinary Science. In 2010 she graduated from the University of Queensland with honours and spent the next 7 years working in mixed practice, general small animal practice and emergency where she developed her passion for critical care. In 2021 she completed a residency position in Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Queensland. Having now returned to Adelaide, she is excited to be overseeing the SASH Adelaide Emergency and Critical Care team as the city’s only Boarded Criticalist.
While Nici enjoys all aspects of veterinary critical care, she has a keen interest in transfusion medicine, toxicities, and antimicrobial stewardship.
In her spare time, Nici enjoys spending time with her husband and three cats Oscar, Rosie and Tails.
