Dr Lissie Henderson graduated with honours from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom in 2011 and went on to complete a small animal rotating internship at the same academic institution. She then worked in several small animal practices before undertaking a clinical research role at the University of Liverpool, where she was responsible for data collection and analysis for several research projects. Subsequently, Lissie completed a surgical internship followed by a three-year postgraduate residency training programme in small animal surgery at the University of Edinburgh. She became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2020, and has since worked in private referral practice in several countries as a specialist surgeon, focusing on soft tissue.
Dr Lissie has authored publications for several journals and is an active member of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons exam committee. She has been a mentor to several junior members of staff throughout her career and enjoys teaching, regularly providing continuing professional development to colleagues both nationally and internationally. Dr Lissie has a keen interest in all aspects of soft tissue surgery and has a particular interest in interventional radiology procedures, minimally invasive techniques, and endocrine surgery.
Outside the hospital, Lissie enjoys a creative and active lifestyle. She loves painting, dancing, and hiking with her scruffy dog Jack in tow.
