Neurosurgery

Dr Jeanie Lau graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours. Prior to her veterinary degree, she graduated with honours from Dartmouth College in the United States with a major in neuroscience. After her first degree, she continued her interests in the field of neurology as a research assistant at the Chinese University of Hong Kong medical school brain lab.

Jeanie practiced for two years in busy private hospitals in Sydney before joining the SASH family as a rotating intern, and subsequently a Neurology/surgery intern. She advanced her training in neurology and neurosurgery at the University of Melbourne in 2016 before continuing her journey as a Neurology/Neurosurgery resident at the North Carolina State University Veterinary Hospital. She has successfully completed her residency training and attained her Diplomate status as one of the few American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine board-certified veterinary neurologist in Australia.

Jeanie enjoys teaching and all aspects of neurosurgery. She is also interested in inflammatory neurological diseases with a publication in steroid responsive meningitis-arthritis and involvement in other research studies during her residency training. She has a ginger kitty called Austine who has the sweetest disposition at home and an endearing dual personality when outside her comfort zone.
