Dr Andre Grafas began his studies at Massey University in 2016, graduating in the class of 2020. His early interests post graduation included more diagnostic fields such as pathology and imaging, as well as a dalliance with anaesthesia.
It was during his rotating internship at Massey University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital that he found his passion for emergency medicine, realising that working a position devoid of client interaction poorly suited his career desires. At the conclusion of his internship, he continued to work for the teaching hospital into 2024 – working primarily as an emergency clinician, but also supervising practical learning for final year, veterinary students.
Although he misses teaching dearly, he was excited to take up a position with SASH at their Northern Beaches hospital in early 2025.
Andre’s family have a rescue cat named Aike back home in New Zealand. Raised with horses, Andre also finds himself spending a lot of time with his equine family.
