Anley : Skipper

Our 13 yrs old Skipper, was diagnosed with a huge liver cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma). Surgery was taken off the table by other Vet practices due to his age and the size of cancer. We were told we only had weeks left with him. We had lost our hope of having more time with him but we were lucky enough to find SASH North Ryde. We had our first appointment with oncologist Dr Sarah Wetzel who believed her team at SASH could help us. She organized us to have a phone consult with Dr Tristram Bennett. He explained all available options, and that the surgery might be the best option for Skipper. We trust him and decided to go ahead with the surgery. We met him first time early morning on Sept 4th (surgery day), to discuss further and how he would go about completing the surgery. We walked away from his office, leaving Skipper in his care, and for the very first time we felt very optimistic and full of hope. All through out that day we received calls, emails from him to update us on Skipper’s condition. Every call we received made us feel so much better, knowing that Skipper was making progress and he was in the very best care possible. We sincerely thank Dr Tristram, for his expertise, his commitment and kindness all of these has helped us get through the most difficult time. His genuine care and dedication to his patients, ensured Skipper was well looked after. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Dr. Tristram and how much we appreciate him. We feel so lucky to know him and so grateful for what he has done for us. We also sincerely thank to Dr. Sarah Wetzel, Dr. Lucy Kopecny, Dr. Terry Chew and the teams at SASH who took care of Skipper during his surgery and recovery. Thank you all so very much! It has been 3 months since the surgery. Skipper is very happy at home, running around wagging his tail, playing with his friends. We never thought we would have the opportunity to see him this happy and healthy again. We are so thankful for every moment we have with him.
