Hello! My name is Grace, and I am glad to share the heartwarming story of my 10-month-old Siberian Husky, Winter. He is an absolute delight, incredibly lovely, and gorgeous. Winter is friendly to everyone, enjoys cuddling, sleeps with us, and has a penchant for talking a lot. In our furry family, we also have another Siberian Husky named Snow, and they are great companions. Both dogs are wonderful with our children, and we adore taking them to the beach. This is our first time owning dogs.

On the 5th of December, a tragic incident occurred involving my beloved Winter. He darted out onto the road and was unfortunately hit by a car. The distressing noise caught my husband’s attention, and he rushed to find Winter in the middle of the road, injured and unable to walk. It was a horrifying sight; Winter was in pain and crying. My husband, shocked by the incident, couldn’t find the words to express what had happened. I was at work, and my husband brought Winter to me. I was taken aback when I saw him.

Initially, we hesitated about taking Winter to the vet, contemplating the financial aspect. Instead, we tried to treat and clean his wounds at home. As time passed, we noticed his breathing wasn’t normal, prompting us to rush him to the hospital. The vet said he needed surgery due to a fracture, and the cost was beyond our means. Fortunately, we had pet insurance and were referred to SASH, where they offer GapOnly.

I am immensely grateful. I was only out of pocket a portion of the cost, and Winter underwent successful surgery. The hospital staff were incredibly friendly and kind. They even went the extra mile by giving our dogs free scarves, taking photos, and providing complimentary coffee for my husband, who thoroughly enjoyed it. Winter is now on the road to recovery, displaying a strong will to walk despite his injuries. Healing will take time, but we are grateful for the significant improvement in his condition.

This experience has taught me the importance of pet insurance, specialist veterinary care and not giving up on our pets. It’s a love that one would have for their own child. I love my dogs dearly, and they provide immense comfort, especially when living far from family overseas. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted and supported us, especially SASH Western Sydney, who played a crucial role in saving Winter.

Thank you and God bless you,

Grace
