Dr Jana Leshinsky

(What does this mean?)

Dr Jana is a graduate of the University of Sydney. She worked for a number of years in general practice in Victoria and NSW prior to completing a rotating internship at the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Jana then went on to complete a small animal internal medicine residency at the university. After 5 years at the University of Sydney, Jana joined the team at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital as a medicine clinician in 2017, and obtained Diplomate status of the European Veterinary Internal Medicine College in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2021. Jana is a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal medicine and has also been appointed onto the Board of Examiners.

She enjoys the challenges of complex medical diagnoses; having a particular interest in interventional radiology/endoscopy and minimally invasive procedures such as lithotripsy and laser techniques. Other areas of special interest include gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, immune mediated disease and urology. As well as clinical work, Jana enjoys participating in the ongoing education of veterinarians and mentoring graduates. She is the co-ordinator of the rotating intern program at SASH.

Jana loves dogs and cats equally – and has two cheeky cats at home named Buddha and Balter.
